     Regional Institute of Engineering, popularly known as "R. I. E." is a pioneer in the field of technical education. The very existence of the Institute in this highly competitive area that too in the capital city of Kerala for more than two decades itself is an ample testimony for the efficiency and dedication devoted to the cause it stands for. Courage, conviction and commitment are the key words of the institute. The inception of the Institute in the year 1986 was subjected to severe criticisms from various corners, for the coaching imparted here are for courses recognized by Govt. of India, conducted by autonomous professional bodies which were till then unheard of at least in this part of the country, The Institute can proudly proclaim that its role in promoting and popularising these courses can never be ignored or neglected. The Institute can very well take the pride of producing a large number of professionals in various fields of technology.
     The infrastructure facilities available in the Institute are par excellence. A team of well-qualified and dedicated teachers with their relentless efforts leaves no stone unturned in moulding the students to the desired level. A full-fledged laboratory and a fantastic library with more than 5000 books on various subjects are the other attractive features of the Institute. Effective management and the congenial atmosphere of the Institute cater to every requirement of the students without giving room for any grievance what so ever. Decorum and discipline are the other important features, the Institute is famous for. 

      The institute has its own hostel facilities for boy and girls. Hostel for girls is situated in the premises of the Institute and the boys hostel, about 3Kms far and conveyance is provided to them in the college bus, free of cost.   Students passed out from this Institute now in enviable positions are the best ambassadors of their almamatre. Laurels and appreciations pour in from various parts of the world and the Institute feels greatly honoured to receive such letters from the students, The proven records in the yester years alienate the Institute from various other institutions of its kind.
